We are opening our Caucus doors to Canadians. Each Open Caucus will provide an opportunity to learn, discuss and debate issues of national importance.
We once again opened our doors and continued to learn, discuss and debate issues of national importance. This effort is hosted by the Senate Liberal Caucus but is non-partisan.
Our May 14, 2014 meeting was held on the contentious topic of end of life care choices. With our aging population, the numbers in need of end of life options will only increase. We looked at and discussed different choices, including hospice palliative care and physician assisted suicide. Canadians are calling on parliament to have a discussion and we would like to begin that discussion in open forum. How we treat Canadians in their last days is an important reflection of Canadian society as a whole.
